ID Fellowship Tuberculosis Clinic
5 ID fellows/year; one-day/week x 1 month, or daily x 2 weeks
Goals and Objectives ::
To become familiar with the outpatient management of tuberculosis.Teaching Methods ::
Direct preceptorship with faculty physicians in TB Clinic, MHMC.
Mix of Patients ::
The TB Clinic serves as the main referral center for tuberculosis in Cuyahoga County, with approximately 75-100 new cases of TB each year.
The program includes an active outreach program including community workers who administer DOT and screen case contacts.
Fellows encounter a full spectrum of outpatient TB management, including patients with tuberculosis, suspected tuberculosis, nontuberculosis mycobacterial disease and tuberculin reactors.
Educational Resources ::
The CDC "Core Curriculum on Tuberculosis" and current CDC recommendations for treatment of active and latent disease are distributed to rotating fellows.
Evaluation ::
