Acting Medical Internship Application
AI positions last for one month and are offered during every rotation block, both at the VA and UH Case Medical Center, except for Block 7 (the winter holiday block).
Please note that accepting an AI rotation represents a commitment to the Department of Medicine for a one month clerkship.
Registration begins on February 1st. AI positions are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. After the individual rotation month and site of AI are decided, you will receive a confirmation email – you can then register with the registrar or register in the School of Medicine system.
The Department of Medicine accepts only 10 AIs at UH and 8 AIs at the VA. Even with the relatively high number of students who can be accepted – we fill up fast and when we do, we use a Google Doc Wait List. If you decide to use the Wait List, you will receive a link to the list. Entries on the list are date and time stamped and AI positions are filled in the order received.
Scheduling and Personal Calendar
When requesting your AI, be sure to look at your personal schedule to make sure it doesn’t conflict with your rotation. Also consider that the AI includes the last weekend and please include this into your personal planning.
