Quality Improvement

Resident Equips is an externship in quality improvement and patient safety. The curriculum is designed for third year internal medicine residents to learn about quality improvement by immersion within the hospital’s quality center. Throughout the month, residents are an integral part of quality meetings including risk management case review, Patient Advocacy and Shared Stories, hand washing audits, and medicine quality assurance. A lecture series includes topics such as core measures, value based purchasing, coding, and utilization review. Residents enjoy participating in the quality center and have found the curriculum to be beneficial and educational.
